Each of the web sites listed below has suggestions and checklists to help prepare you and your property for disasters and emergencies. The information is based on the experience and research of the National Fire Protection Association, The United States Forest Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and many fire protection services from around the country. The sites have pamphlets and checklists you can download to use to make you safer. There are web sites that provide information about Georgia, also.

The Georgia Forestry Commission website provides information about wildland fires for the State.

Obtain a burn permit. The State enforces a burning ban for Dawson and Pickens Counties from May 1 to September 30

Burning debris. Debris burning is the #1 cause of wildland fires in Georgia. This site provides suggestions and safeguards for your safety.
